The honeysuckle is a hardy plant renowned for its flowers which have a sweet, heady fragrance. It is possible to drink the nectar of these flowers, experiencing what it must be like to be an insect supping its delights.
As a good climbing plant, it is able to cover up areas which may seem unsightly quite quickly, transforming them into a beautiful, living mass of leaves and flowers. With careful training and support they may provide shelter against the fierce rays of the sun in the height of summer.
The fruits of most of the honeysuckle species can be mildly toxic, but some varieties are edible – but don’t risk trying this out for yourself.
Often one may find a young tree with honeysuckle entwined around it, providing a naturally sculpted, spiral twist walking stick or staff.
|Meditation:||What are the things which bind to my heart?
Are all of them good, or do some weigh me down?
Where is my covering when I need shelter?
